Toefl Essay Examples - Reflection
What does it take to be wet, tired, scared for life, and bloody? Well, that’s a question I unfortunately have an answer to. A real experienced answer.
It all started on a beautiful, sunny day. I woke up around 9’oclock am. I awoke to the delicious smell of breakfast and eggs. I walked down the hall to see my dad making the eggs. He turned to me a murmured, “Good morning son.â€
“Mornin’ dad,†I mumbled back.
“Go wake up Bev, will ya?†he ordered.
I woke my sister and had breakfast. Then, too soon, we heard that we would be going to the Truckee River for the day and I was welcome to invite a friend. I called my friend, Hillary, and invited her. She lives in Truckee, so it was convenient.
Our family eventually got to the river, set up the chairs and Hillary and I went swimming. We ate lunch, then continued swimming some more.
Hillary remembered she had an innertube in her car. She grabbed it, and got back into the water.
Before I knew it, she started drifting down the river. I madly swam as fast as I could after her. I grabbed the tube.
“Get out of the tube!†I yelled.
She got out, but we were both swept away by the treacherous river.
We were bumped, and thrashed about. I had one half inch deep cuts that revealed bone from the sharp edges of the rocks.
We finally saw a log up ahead. It was half way in the water, and half way on land. We grab a hold of it, and used it to stumble to safety.
Our parents came running up with towels and hugs.
It was all over. We were carried back, bloodied and scared. I got scars that day, I will have for life. I will never forget that experience.
“I am very proud of you, son. That was really brave of you…putting your life on the line to save your friend.â€
This was a bloody experience that will be forever scared in my head.
